A Ferrari seemed to roll itself away from a gas station after the car caught fire Sunday evening in Martinez, a fire battalion chief said.

Eglite said what probably happened is the drive train disengaged after the car caught fire. The Ferrari rolled down a slight grade, across two lanes of Morello Avenue and onto the center median before firefighters extinguished the fire, he said.
I know people say Ferraris are fragile, but what part part of the drivetrain disengaged in the fire?

Yeah - always liked those, even though I heard a 280ZX could give it a run for the money.

I’m guessing that was reporter error. I would reckon maybe the e brake cable burnt through....either that, or maybe the owner left it in gear (no e brake) and the clutch melted?
